WHO CAN MAKE A COMPLAINT BEFORE NRI COMMISSION
A Non Resident Indian or any other person on his/hers behalf can approach the Commission to make a complaint. He/she can file the complaint in person or by post, fax, email or by any other means. Complaints can be made alleging disputes or violation or denial of justice by a public servant or a private person or from institutions including Government/Quasi Government/Public Sector Institutions/Bank or such providing material, on the basis of which the Commission takes Suo moto cognizances.
Who is a Non-Resident Indian (Keralites):
A Non-Resident Indian (Keralite) means a person of Indian Citizenship domiciled in Kerala who is either permanently or temporarily settled outside India for:
- Taking up employment outside India, or
- Carrying on a business or vocation or for studying outside India; or
- Any other purpose, in such circumstances, as would indicate his/hers intention to stay outside India for an uncertain period.
Online Complaint and Management System (OCMS)
The Online Complaint and Management System (OCMS) is a digital platform provided by the Non-Resident Indians’ (Keralites) Commission to enable NRKs to lodge complaints, track their status, and receive timely response from the Commission.
- Submit Complaints Online: Non-Resident Indian (Keralites) can register complaints directly through the online portal.
- Upload Supporting Documents: Users can attach relevant documents, proofs, or affidavits to strengthen their complaint.
- Track Complaint Status: Complainants can monitor the progress of their complaints in real-time and receive updates about actions taken by the Commission.
What is the process on receiving a complaint:
On receiving a complaint the office will verify whether the complaint is maintainable before the Commission, and whether there is document to show that the complainant is a Non Resident Indian, and the required documents are there to support his/hers claim. If those documents are properly attached with the complaint, the complaint will be numbered as Original Petition and notice will be ordered to the respondent to file his/hers reply within 30 days from the date of receipt of the notice. Thereafter if written reply is received, after hearing both parties the Commission will take appropriate decision as to the relief that can be granted. . The findings of the Commission on an enquiry conducted, shall be communicated to the Government with its recommendations for appropriate action.
Is there any fee for filing a complaint:
No fee is required for making complaints filed before the Non-Resident Indians’ (Keralites) Commission. You can use the Complaint Management System (as indicated on the site) to lodge your complaint. The complaint should include necessary documents, supporting evidence, and relevant details.
How to file a complaint online:
- Click Register Complaint under the “Complaint Management” menu on the website. Enter basic details as the system asks for new user registration. Registered users can sign in using their mobile number and password.
- Fill the application form with the details and upload the supporting documents.
- After filling the form, click Submit and Preview to review your application. Once the application is verified and informations furnished are found correct, then click final submit to complete the filing process of registration.
- Applicants can track complaints on their dashboard.
